Post-Doctoral Position -- University of North Carolina Charlotte



Post-Doctoral Position: Using AIRS Satellite Data to improve WRF model forecasts.

The University of North Carolina Charlotte invites applications for a post-doctoral position in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences. We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate with experience in mesoscale modeling (the WRF model, preferably) and ensemble based data assimilation (DaRT, or the LETKF, preferably) to conduct research on improving model forecasts of the PBL via the assimilation of AIRS satellite data. An extensive set of PBL data was collected during a meteorological field measurement program that took place in the Salt Lake Valley during October 2000, called VTMX (Vertical Transport and MiXing).

Interested applicants should submit curriculum vitae, a cover letter including a brief statement of research interest, and a list of names and addresses (including email addresses) of three professional references. Only United States Citizens are eligible for this position.
