Title: Air Quality Meteorologist
Weston Solutions, Inc. (WESTON®) is seeking a meteorologist to work in our Integrated Air Service (IAS) team. Responsibilities will include acquiring, reviewing, and processing air quality and meteorological data, perform analyses, and apply atmospheric science principles to interpret air quality data. Work also includes setup and design of air quality and meteorological monitoring and sampling systems. Travel is necessary.
Requirements: BS in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science or related field with
0-3 years of experience in air quality monitoring is required.
Desirable qualifications include coursework in air quality/environmental
data analysis, good communication and problem-solving skills, and familiarity
with data analysis tools, including statistical packages.
Must be proficient with the use of computers. The candidate should also
possess excellent technical writing and oral communication capabilities.
Experience with spreadsheets (Excel and/or Access) and word processing programs
(such as Word) are a must. Skills programming in Visual Basic, HTML, JAVA,
and ASP are also recommended. A background with air pollution and meteorological
instrumentation are helpful. The candidate should have strong skills in
math and a foundation in basic chemistry. The ideal candidate should be
both an independent worker and a team player.
Primary responsibilities:
• Perform daily analysis and validation of meteorological data
• Operate and maintain both continuous real-time data monitors and
ambient air samplers
• Collect air samples for laboratory analysis
• Design and construct metrological stations
**This position requires little meteorological forecastinggenerally limited to forecasts for storm water sampling. Job details include installation and maintenance of meteorological towers, usage of a PA2 Doppler SODAR for renewable wind energy studies, perimeter air monitor on construction and remediation sites, environmental emergency response, use of data loggers and communication devices, total particulate monitoring (miniRae, DustScans) and ambient air monitoring using EPA reference method equipment (BAM1020, PUF samplers, TSP samplers). This position requires performing audits on equipment, technical report writing and data analysis. Other tasks may include emission testing on industrial stacks at various heights.
