Atmospheric Scientist -- WeatherPredict Consulting Inc.



Position: Atmospheric Scientist


Location: Raleigh, NC


FLSA: Exempt


WeatherPredict Consulting Inc., which predicts and models atmospheric and oceanic hazards and vulnerability, is seeking to fill an Atmospheric Scientist position in Raleigh, NC to:


· Update and analyze operational forecast products


· Support operational forecast clients with emphasis on short-range prediction.


· Support projects and development of analytical tools.


· Maintain and enhance base scientific knowledge of pertinent science and risk intelligence


· Maintain and enhance procedures for monitoring and alerting


· Assist in real-time/operational forecast process improvements


· Prepare and update documentation and training material for forecast procedures


Position operates in an environment that revolves around timely client delivery and generation of scientific/geophysical data and forecasts.


Position requires a BS degree in atmospheric science and a minimum of 1 -3 years experience in meteorological operations, solid computational and statistical skills, including analytical programming skills, scripting, and graphical/visualization tools, and strong written and oral communication skills. Preferred graduate degree in atmospheric science with 3+ years experience in operational forecasting and risk analysis within a real-time prediction setting. Preferred experience with regional and global numerical models.
