Atmospheric Numerical Modeler -- the Hydrologic Research Center
The Hydrologic Research Center, a non-profit research and technology transfer
corporation in San Diego, California, is seeking a postdoctoral associate
or career scientist in the area of atmospheric numerical modeling.
Applicants must have a Doctoral Degree in Atmospheric Science or an allied
discipline, and strong background and experience in the numerical modeling
of atmospheric processes. Experience with using mesoscale numerical models
and atmospheric data formats (GRIB, HDF, NETCDF) are requirements. Experience
with shell scripting , MPI/LAM, and GrADs is plus. The successful applicant
will participate in Center programs pertaining to: (a) implementation of
mesoscale numerical weather prediction models as part of operational-quality
integrated hydrometeorological systems for surface weather and flow forecasting;
(b) various studies to assess the sensitivity of surface weather to microphysical
processes and boundary conditions obtained from large scale operational
climate and weather models. Qualified applicants will be able to establish
their own lines of research.
The position is available immediately. Salary is commensurate to experience
and qualifications.
