Scientific Programmer/Analyst--SSAI, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center


 

SSAI is seeking a Scientific Programmer/Analyst to support remote sensing of cloud properties at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The work will include MODIS satellite retrieval code and algorithm development. The Scientific Programmer/Analyst will also support analysis and visualization of mission data, including intercomparison of satellite data with other measurement data, as well as contribute to the publication of scientific results and distribution of data to researchers via mission websites.

Required Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have a minimum of a Masters degree in a physical science, mathematics, or computer science discipline with at least 2 years strong Fortran 90 programming skills and experience in scientific data analysis in a Unix/Linux environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, candidates will have experience with visualization using IDL, MATLAB or equivalent software and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Skill with Perl or other Unix shell scripts is desired, along with experience using large Earth Science HDF-EOS data sets.
