We are now inviting applications for a postdoctoral position to carry out research aimed at understanding the influence of initial conditions in the ocean, land surface and cryosphere on climate predictions for time horizons of seasons to decades. The post forms part of an innovative new multi-institution project "GCEPS" (Grid for Coupled Ensemble Prediction Studies) funded under the Natural Environment Research Council's e-Science programme (http://www.nerc.ac.uk/funding/escience/). Candidates should have a Ph.D, or equivalent experience, in the physical or mathematical sciences. You should have good IT skills, especially Unix and programming in Fortran, IDL or similar. Experience in ocean, atmosphere or climate research is highly desirable, but not essential. Experience of data analysis and visualisation is also desirable.
