The candidate’s role will be to provide first line customer service support to Weathernews clients in the Shipping industry. Weathernews provides a first class Voyage planning service to a major share of the global shipping industry. You will be responsible for dealing directly with shipping clients, their agents and Ship captains, processing and entering orders into the order handling system. You will also develop expertise in using data on Ship performance, weather and ocean currents so as to provide clients with analysis of ship performance and comparison with that expected. You will also provide office - based support to the Business Development team, who spend much of their time away from the office meeting clients and rely on good back-up, often working under pressure. You will need excellent customer service skills, the ability to work under pressure and to learn quickly, as well as an adaptable and enthusiastic outlook. You will be comfortable with most Windows based PC applications and with the prospect of complex data entry. You will also have the ability to handle, understand and analyse complex data where needed. The role will appeal to those interested in the commercial application of Meteorology. Knowledge of the Shipping industry would be advantageous but not essential. Weathernews is located in prestige offices in central London (Chancery Lane) and you will be part of a young and fun team who are tasked with driving business development and sales in not only the Shipping sector, but also across a number of sectors in which Weathernews is active. Hours are 9.00-5.30pm, Monday to Friday. Although this post is initially a temporary position, there is potential for personal and career development within this environment and within the company on a more permanent basis.
