The successful applicant will be expected to develop an active research program, supervise graduate students, and teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including those in Earth system science. The successful applicant may qualify for a Canada Research Chair, Tier 2 position. The Earth System Science initiative at McGill University is a collaborative effort among the Departments of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Geography. The candidate's area of expertise should be in the atmospheric component of the hydrologic cycle. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in measurement of precipitation through ground-based or satellite-based radar. A Ph. D. in atmospheric or oceanic sciences or a closely-related field is required. McGill University is an English-speaking university located in Montreal, one of North America's most cosmopolitan cities.
