OCE Post Doctoral Fellow - Ecosystem Modeller for Savannah and Climate
Marine and Atmospheric Research, Black Mountain, ACT $63K - $69K plus Superannuation Reference Number 2007/232 We are seeking an innovative Post-Doctoral candidate to join the Land and Atmosphere Stream, based in Canberra. The team's research quantifies the dynamics of coupled energy, water and biogeochemical cycles in land and atmosphere systems using the tools of Earth observation science and land-surface modelling. The successful candidate will possess a PhD and have expertise in some or all of: ecosystem modelling, data synthesis and analysis, climate modelling and complex systems science. This position will improve the modelling of vegetation dynamics and emissions of aerosol and greenhouse gases from biomass burning of savannas in ACCESS, the Australian Climate Community Earth System Simulator. ACCESS is a major Joint Research Operation between CSIRO and The Bureau of Meteorology as well as key Australian universities. The appointee will assemble data sets and use ACCESS to assess the effects of land cover change and emissions from savannah burning on climate at regional and global scales.
