Colloquia: There is no departmental colloquium this Thursday. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to stop by the Meteorology main office after 9:00 a.m. for goodies and to celebrate January birthdays in the Department. The Department's newest faculty member, Mark Roulston, is officially on board. His office is in 506 Walker. Stop by and welcome him to Penn State Meteorology. 2003 Ph.D. graduate, Jeffrey Chagnon, is now working as a Research Associate with Peter Bannon. Congratulations to Mike Fritsch, who retired from the University at the beginning of this year. The Department's Alumni Reception at the Annual AMS Meeting will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Seattle in Grand Ballroom B. EMS "THON" Blood Drive: Tuesday, January 20th in the EMS Museum from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Appointments are encouraged. Sign up one of two ways 1) Visit http://students.ist.psu.edu/RedCross/non_scu_main.php and use the pull down menu to choose Jan. 20th/Steidle and a donation time, or 2) Contact Mandy McQuade at amm9@psu.edu or 865-7482. An EMS Casino Night will be held on February 13, 2004 at the Nittany Lion Inn, starting at 7:00 p.m. Join the fun! Richard Thompson has won an Outstanding Staff Award from the College of EMS. Congratulations Dick! EMS Student Council has already raised almost $3000 to support THON, and they are hoping to make their first year in THON a memorable one.
