Did You Know?

STRANGE BUT TRUE--
In 1994, scientists in Australia invented a way of removing fleece from sheep without shearing.
They injected the sheep with a special hormone, then wrapped them in lightweight hairnets.
Three weeks later, the fleece could be peeled off the sheep by hand.

The American Geological Institute has announced it's "theme" for Earth Science Week (Oct. 9-15) and new national contests for 2005. For more information about Earth Science Week activities and contests visit http://www.earthsciweek.org/

University Announces Change to Fall 2005 Semester Calendar. Beginning fall semester 2005, the first day of classes (August 30) will follow a TUESDAY class schedule. But, the Tuesday before the Thanksgiving holiday (November 22) will follow a FRIDAY class schedule. [See full announcement.]

Altoona Curve Game Outing: PSUBAMS officers are planning a department outing to an Altoona Curve game on Thursday, September 1 (7:05 p.m.) and Zack Byko (zmb102@psu.edu) is still trying to estimate the number of tickets needed. Please email him as soon as possible if you would like to attend so he can order seats. Tickets will be approx. $5-7 depending on where the seats are purchased and if you are a PSUBAMS member. You will need to tell him in the email how many seats you need.
