Job description

Broadcast Meteorologist

Primary responsibilities will include live and recorded weathercasts, including live severe weather updates, for a very large geographic area. Additional responsibilities will include utility forecasting and weather briefings for various local clients. As we are a 24/7 operation, shift times will vary, and weekend, overnight, and holiday work will frequently be required. The right candidate will display a great deal of motivation and teamwork in order to satisfy the demands of this rigorous position.

Previous broadcast experience is highly preferred, but we will consider exceptional entry-level candidates and recent graduates, particularly those with successful broadcast internship experiences. Experience with Gibson Ridge radar display software or similar software packages is highly desired. Programming and coding experience is also a big plus, but not an absolute requirement.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Atmospheric Science or Meteorology
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Passion for meteorology and, in particular, severe weather
  • Demonstrated history of strong teamwork, customer service, and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office
