About This Position

AMS is seeking a Content Specialist to join our Education Department (AMS Education). The Content Specialist researches source material and provides science content for science education curricula. The ideal candidate must have exceptional science writing and communication skills. This is a term-limited position for up to one year, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Write and update instructional content for Lab Manuals for each of AMS Education’s courses,and prepare answer keys
  • Coordinate with Course Lead to create weekly science learning activities for each of AMSEducation’s courses
  • Provide staff support and instructional assistance for summer courses
  • Contribute to program marketing to educators via conferences and social media engagement
  • Research science content for AMS Education textbook revisions

Qualifications include:

  • Master’s Degree in Weather or Ocean Science or Earth Science Education, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • 2 or more years of prior related experience
  • Exceptional science writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Domestic travel up to 6 times per year
  • Experience with GST/GIS modeling
