Job description

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a Full-Time, 10 month Fixed-Term faculty position in Meteorology for the 2017-2018 academic year, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in physical and dynamic meteorology, as well as survey level courses in severe weather and climate change. This is a full-time position with an attractive benefits package. 

Required Qualifications: A Master's degree in meteorology or a related science; Ph.D. preferred. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. 

The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. The program includes a twenty-workstation instructional lab, two multicore servers ingesting and serving meteorological data and running WRF forecasts, a digital map wall, a radiosonde system, and a Campbell weather station. 

Established in 1892, Central Michigan University has an enrollment of 27,000 students, including approximately 20,000 students on the university's main campus. Classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a doctoral research university, CMU is located in Mount Pleasant, an expanding mid-Michigan community of approximately 25,000 permanent residents.
