Summary

Independently analyzes and assesses weather, both current and forecast to determine the need for warnings, statements, and/or advisories as well as issuing current or extended forecasts; autonomously examines and interprets hydrological products for forecasts and warnings for floods, river stages, and marine weather; monitors and interprets radar and satellite imagery; creates tropical weather outlooks, discussions and forecasts (scheduled and unscheduled) for Atlantic basin storms which have the potential to threaten or impact the United States; operates the Blackwell Over-Surface Hurricane Wind (BLOHW) Model for tropical systems which have the potential to threaten or to impact the United States, particularly for systems which have or may enter the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico or may affect the East Coast; updates existing Coastal Weather Research Center (CWRC) products utilizing Python coding to streamline operations and to enhance timeliness of products as well as develop new products utilizing Python coding to increase efficiency and to meet emerging needs of clients across multiple sectors; utilizes scripting to automate the execution of computer tasks; adopts and implements new forecasting techniques such as artificial intelligence/machine learning base forecasting; consults with the director/staff in matters of equipment/procedural problems in the preparation/dissemination of all CWRC products; handles multiple assignments often with competing deadlines; participates in public relation activities as needed; assists with Meteorology program student recruiting and provides tours of the CWRC as needed; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
