Postdoctoral Scholar Position Available in the Department of Environmental, Science & Policy Management at the Biometeorology Laboratory

There is an immediate opening for a postdoctoral position available in the area of trace gas flux measurements at the University of California, Berkeley. The position involves the day-to-day responsibility for a methane, carbon dioxide and energy flux measurement study in the Bay Area, 50 miles east of Berkeley.  The candidate will be responsible in acquiring and processing eddy covariance data, maintaining and calibrating instruments, field measurements of soil/plant status, the analysis, the interpretation of field data, modeling trace gas fluxes at the local and regional scales and writing of scientific papers.  The successful candidate will work with a team of technicians, other postdocs and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a PhD equivalent in Micrometeorology,  Biometeorology, Environmental Engineering, Biogeochemistry or related fields by appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience in the areas of Micrometeorology, Biometeorology, Land, Air and Water Resources, Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Ecosystem Ecology or Trace Gas Biogeochemistry.  Candidates fluent in database software and a computer language such as Matlab, C or Python, be expert in Geographical Information Systems software and have prior experience or training in measuring carbon, water and energy fluxes between the biosphere and atmosphere are most desirable.  We seek someone who can work well with a team in the field environment.


The targeted start date for this position is December 1, 2018 or as soon as possible.  The initial appointment is for one-year, with renewal based on performance and funding.
