Job description

Remote sensing scientist or scientific programmer

Department: UMD/ESSIC/CISESS 
Starting Salary: Commensurate with Experience 
Closing Date: Friday, September 20, 2019 

Duties:

A remote sensing scientist or scientific programmer is invited to join in the NOAA/NESDIS soil moisture and drought monitoring group. 

Qualifications:

  • Programming with Fortran, C, Python, and Linux shell script
  • Experience in satellite remote sensing and analyses of large meteorological or satellite data sets
  • Knowledge of data files in binary, HDF, NetCDF, GRIB2 formats,
  • Education in Atmospheric Science, Hydrology, or related disciplines.
