The Risk Analyst participates in the development and calculation of financial risk measures for AEP. Analyzes risks associated with energy delivery, interest rates, counterparty defaults, and insurance. Brings advanced skills applicable to the energy arena from mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance. Position requires significant degree of programming to implement methods. Can work autonomously on complex problems.
Essential Function: Data Management
Associated Tasks: - Writes programs to extract, transform, and load data into other systems
Gathers and formats data for input to risk analysis procedures
Develops programs to provide data in useful reporting formats
Essential Function: Performs statistical and mathematical programming
Associated Tasks: - Writes programs to perform specific, well-defined calculations
Develops code in a multi-programmer environment - Writes documentation to explain system components
With direction, summarizes historical data with useful explanatory graphs, charts, and tables
Essential Function: Executes risk analysis procedures
Associated Tasks: - Estimates value of prospective and transacted deals (including energy and interest rate transactions)
Using established tools, estimates market and credit costs for prospective deals
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
Experience: Two years experience involving programming and mathematical or statistical modeling, or Master's degree in one of the above fields.
Licenses/Certifications: Not required.
