Job description
The Hydrologic Research Center, a non-profit research and technology transfer corporation in San Diego, California, is seeking a project scientist in the area of atmospheric numerical modeling. Applicants must have at least an MS Degree in Atmospheric Science from an accredited Institution in the USA and 3-years experience in Atmospheric Numerical Modeling. Demonstrated experience with (a) using mesoscale numerical models (MM5, WRF), (b) handling and analyzing large databases, and (c) working with atmospheric data formats (GRIB, HDF, NETCDF), is required. Experience with shell scripting MPI/LAM, and GrADs is desired. The successful applicant will participate in Center programs pertaining to (a) the design and implementation associated with mesoscale numerical weather prediction models as part of operational-quality integrated hydrometeorological systems for surface weather and flow forecasting; and (b) the analysis of large datasets acquired from integrated hydrometeorological systems. Qualified applicants at the postdoctoral level will be able to establish their own lines of research in hydrometeorology and hydroclimatology.
The position is available immediately. Salary is commensurate to experience and qualifications.
