Exam Policy: Students will be evaluated via two semester exams and a final exam. The semester exams will be given during regular class periods as scheduled in the schedule below. The final exam will be comprehensive and will be given during the period scheduled by the University. Except for illness, make-up exams will be conducted only for students who make arrangements with the instructor prior to the scheduled exam.
Grading Policy: The semester exams will contribute 20% each (40% total) toward the final grade. The final exam will contribute 30%. Lab assignments will contribute 30%.
Lab Assignments: Students may collaborate on lab assignments, but the final product to be handed in should be your own work. Approximately one hour will be devoted to lab work each class period. Lab assignments typically will be due within a week after the initial date of assignment. Technical accuracy, grammatical structure, and neatness will be considered in lab grades.
Academic integrity: You are required to turn in your own work for each lab assignment. While it is expected that your group will freely exchange advice and assistance with other students, the work you turn in must be your own. Work copied from others, including persons not taking the course, will be given a grade of zero. If, however, you find a public domain program or data source on the web that you feel it would be to your advantage to use, you may ask for my permission for the entire class to use it (with appropirate credit given) use it in their assignments. I will decide whether to grant such advance permission on a case-by-case basis. Exams will be closed book, closed notes, and allow no access to information from other persons or electronic devices. Calculators will be allowed only for computational purposes.
