METEO 002: WEATHER AND SOCIETY (2 credits).
Nontechnical
treatment of fundamentals of modern meteorology; effect of weather
and climate on society and its activities. A student who took METEO
003 for more than 1 credit may not take this course.
METEO
003: INTRODUCTORY METEOROLOGY (3 credits). Nontechnical
treatment of fundamentals of modern meteorology; effect of weather
and climate on man and his activities. A student who took METEO
002 may take the laboratory part of this course for 1 credit only.
METEO
022: THE OCEANS (2 credits). A
survey of oceanic properties and processes, with emphasis on the
mechanisms of tides, waves, and ocean currents.
METEO
101: UNDERSTANDING WEATHER FORECASTING (3 credits). This
is an on-line (e-Education) course. Meteorology 101 is designed
to serve a diverse audience, including undergraduate students, continuing
adult learners working in weather information industry and related
fields, and thousands of weather hobbyists who enthusiastically
follow weather-related television programs and national periodicals
like WeatherWise. The overarching goal of Meteo 101 is to help students
become informed, critical consumers of the weather information they
rely upon every day. This knowledge will be of particular value
to students engaged in planning activities related to agriculture,
