Soon students will be registering for the 2007 Department of Meteorology Career Days. By Wednesday, March 21, I will begin to prepare the final interview schedules. By registering, students were asked to prioritize the companies they’d like to interview with during Career Days and I’ll use those preferences to schedule the individual interviews. Your interview schedule will be available online prior to your trip to Penn State and it will also be available at the Career Center when you arrive there. I’ve asked the students to take an original copy of their resume to each interview. For those who are not interviewing until Wednesday, I’ll have a copy of your final interview schedule on hand at the Tuesday evening reception.

ABOUT THE INTERVIEWS:
A link to campus maps is at the bottom of this letter to aid you in finding
the Career Services Center interview rooms (Bldg. #19, F-7 on the CAMPUS GUIDE
map). They are located on the second floor of the Bank of America Career Services
Center. If it’s a nice day, you may want to walk to the Career Services
Center. If you are driving and you want to park at the Eisenhower Parking
Deck (Bldg. #65, F-6 on the CAMPUS GUIDE map), you will need to pull up in
front of the Career Center first, and then run inside and buy a parking pass
from the receptionist. Alternatively, you may buy a pass from the Eisenhower
Parking Deck Office. The permit will allow you to park at the Eisenhower Parking
Deck and you will not have to feed the meter. Cost for a one day parking pass
is $6.
Interviews commence at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at the Bank of America Career Services Center. Many students are scheduled for back-to-back interviews so please try to keep the interviews within the half-hour time slot allotted. You are on your own for lunch. You are within walking distance to downtown, but the Career Center has a small eatery, and you are also within close proximity of the HUB, which has been recently remodeled and houses several eateries.
TUESDAY EVENING RECEPTION
Tuesday night’s reception will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Ballroom A
& B of the Nittany Lion Inn. I’m working on a final presentation
schedule for Tuesday night, but I’ve yet to fine-tune it. Due to the
high number of companies attending this year, you will only have five minutes
for your presentation. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the
time that you’d like to be scheduled, just let me know. You may visit
the “recruiter information” section of the Career Days website
to print a final version as soon as it is posted, but I will also send you
an email copy of it. A laptop (with PowerPoint) with a projector will be available
for presentations. The laptops will accept a flash/jump drive or CD. We’ve
had some trouble reading certain jump/flash drives in the past, so a backup
of your presentation on CD might be wise. If you have other needs (slide projector
or TV/VCR), just say the word and I will make arrangements. There will also
be a table in the room if you have any promotional materials that you’d
like to bring along. Light snacks will be served in the Ballroom during the
presentations. Additional hot hors d’oeuvres will be served afterward
in the atrium area outside the ballroom, with a chance for recruiters to informally
interact with meteorology students and faculty.
If you have any questions while you are conducting the interviews, you may reach me in the office at 863-8568. Hopefully we won’t have any logistical problems with the interview schedules, but with a large number of schedules to jockey around I guess anything is possible. I hope your visit is productive for both you and the students!
