Research Interests: Micrometeorology, planetary boundary layer modeling.

Dr. Blackadar has developed a computer model of the boundary layer that is available on the department's computer systems. The model treats most of the important processes that occur in the boundary layer: turbulent transfer, convection, surface interfacial transfers of scalar quantities (including deposition); soil, heat, and moisture transports; moisture storage in and transport through vegetation; and transfer of short- and long-wave radiation in the atmosphere. He is working on improving the physical processes represented in this model and he is using the model for real-time prediction.
