Research Interests: Monitors undergraduate research projects in convective processes and associated severe weather, including tornadoes, straightline winds, and hail.

Teaching Interests: Mesoscale processes in the atmosphere and physical oceanography.

Dr. Diercks works with undergraduate students in furthering their understanding of the atmospheric processes which produce life-threatening severe weather. Students analyze recent severe weather cases using sophisticated computer tools and then report their findings in the format of a paper submitted to a professional meteorological journal.
