Research Interests: Hurricanes, tropical meteorology, atmospheric convection.

Teaching Interests: Tropical meteorology, atmospheric convection and dynamics.

Dr. Frank’s research focuses on determining the mechanisms that control the structure and intensity of tropical cyclones. These studies include both numerical simulations of hurricanes using a fine-mesh, nonhydrostatic model and analyses of data obtained from aircraft, satellites and global analysis fields. He also is involved in research to improve cumulus parameterization techniques in climate models.
