Research Interests: Cloud physics and dynamics, weather prediction and modification. Public policy in science and engineering. 

Dr. Hosler has conducted extensive laboratory and field research on the dynamics and physics of clouds, on precipitation formation, and on precipitation scavenging of pollutants. He has also contributed to studies of the environmental impact of power plant cooling systems. Current activities are focused upon effective use of scientific knowledge of the atmosphere on public policy decisions and upon assuring continued public support for research and operations in the atmospheric sciences through lectures, testimony and service on Federal, National Research Council, and professional society boards and committees.
