Philosophy of Science Group
Last year (2006), a group of us started a philosophy of science discussion
group, where we could discuss philosophical issues relevant to science,
interpretation, knowledge, and just about anything else that sparked our
interests. In addition to providing entertaining and stimulating conversation,
the study of the philosophy of science also has a direct relevance on
the science we do and learn each day.
For those of you interested in such a group, we meet once every month or so (off campus, at someone's house or apartment). Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 28. We will be reading the first two chapters of Karl Popper's "Conjectures and Refutations" (which is ~$14 on Amazon.com and free to library-enthusiasts).
Feel free to stop by and talk with myself (room 407) or Dr. Harrington (room 517) for more information on our group. Hopefully we'll see a couple new faces at our next meeting!
