Application Information

In order to apply to our graduate program, you must mail materials to the Department of Meteorology. Please click the buttons below for detailed  instructions on what you need to submit to each place. Note that Penn State now requires all applications to be filed electronically. After you've read the instructions below, you may proceed to the Electronic Graduate Application.

  • Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate.
    • International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if the records are not in English.
    • Notorized copies are not sufficient.
    • Click on Transcript Request Form for a transcript request form.
  • Standardized test scores
  • Application for Visa Document (International Students Only)
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Statement of purpose (a one-page essay describing your research interests and career goals).
    • $45 non-refundable application fee.
      • Applications without fees cannot be processed.  
      • Make payable to The Pennsylvania State University.
      • International money order or a check must be drawn on a U.S. bank.
      • Canceled check serves as your receipt.
      • DO NOT SEND CASH.
      • Please attach generated Fee Form if you did not pay by credit card when you filed your electronic application.
