Gregory S. Jenkins Emergency Assistance Fund

This fund was established by Professor Gregory Jenkins to offer assistance to students who encounter extraordinary events or circumstances that could impact their ability to continue their studies at Penn State.

Emergency grants are awarded to undergraduate students who encounter extraordinary events or circumstances that could negatively affect their ability to continue their studies in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science. Emergency grants are awarded on a case-by-case basis and can be given to a student no more than once per academic year. Limited funding is available.  

Q: Am I eligible to receive an emergency grant?
A: Emergency grants are available to current Meteorology and Atmospheric Science students who have successfully completed at least one semester within the last year and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.  

Q: What is the maximum amount I can request? 
A: The maximum grant is $250.

Q: What are examples of emergencies?
A: Examples of emergencies include, but are not limited to: extraordinary circumstances, such as loss of a job, prolonged illness or loss of a parent, significant car or home repairs. Types of expenses that the grant could be used for include living expenses, food, books and supplies for course work,or transportation and travel costs.

Note: Students are required to meet with the Meteorology and Atmospheric Science Scholarship Committee Chair upon completing the Emergency Grant application. Summary of spending is required before the end of the semester.
