Award for Outstanding Achievement in Broadcast Meteorology

Jared Plushnick is a 2009 graduate of our department and current Chief Meteorologist at KAGS-TV in Bryan, Texas. Jared has established this award to be given to a student who displays a true passion for broadcast meteorology as well as a full range of knowledge of current and future multimedia broadcasting.

Jared Plushnick is a 2009 graduate of our department and current Chief Meteorologist at KAGS-TV in Bryan, Texas.  Jared has established this award to be given to a student who displays a true passion for broadcast meteorology as well as a full range of knowledge of current and future multimedia broadcasting.

The amount of the award is $500 and is open to undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Meteorology. To apply, submit a DVD or link of your on-air work (maximum of five minutes) and supply a written essay (one-page maximum) about your achievements (internships, Campus Weather Service, original ideas, etc). Within the essay please explain why you want to work in the field of broadcasting and how you plan to utilize your Penn State Meteorology education. Applications will be accepted starting January 1 through March 1.  All materials should be given to Dr. Jon Nese, 518 Walker Building, University Park, PA.
