Hello PSU METEO Nation!
I hope everyone is having a good week. PSUBAMS will be holding their next guest speaker this coming Tuesday, December 10 at 7PM in 105 Walker. The speaker is Mike Smith, Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Executive at AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions. Mr. Smith founded the company WeatherData in 1981 to provide custom-tailored severe weather forecasts and warnings to companies. WeatherData was acquired by AccuWeather in 2006. He has also written two books about the history and current state of severe weather forecasting, "Warnings" and "When the Sirens Went Silent" and will bring a few copies of his books to sell after Tuesday's meeting.
Mr. Smith will be giving a talk titled "How One Meteorologist Made Flying Safer for Everyone", which will tell the story of how one courageous meteorologist stopped what used to be the most cause of airline crashes and made everyone safer. You won't want to miss it.
