n this position, you will manage the daily analysis of meteorological data in determining weather-related trends and threats to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (COPA) by forecasting impending weather disasters, including, but not limited to tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, droughts, heat and cold waves, wildfires, and blizzards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Performs a task to be assigned during periods of emergencies. 
  • Free Secure On-Site Parking.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to two days per week after a comprehensive on-site training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of professional experience in meteorology, and a bachelor’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements: 
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of emergency management policies, regulations, capabilities, and resources.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, apply, and implement meteorological policies and procedures.
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the delivery of comprehensive statewide meteorological program services.
  • Ability to explain and promote meteorological programs.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
