Job and Career Description:
WeatherWorks encourages employee development as both a meteorologist and a professional. The core responsibilities of this position will be to forecast and provide consultation to clients in the short-to-medium range. As a meteorologist, there will be continued education, utilization of new technology and understanding of client operations. Over time, as a professional there is the opportunity to grow and take a managerial role within an additional department (including, but not limited to Social Media, Forensics, Programming). - Candidates must reside within driving distance to northwest New Jersey or be willing to relocate. Work-from-home benefits begin within 1 - 2 years with the company.
- As a 24/7 operation, candidates will work balanced rotating shifts which will include overnight or early morning shifts, in addition to daytime shifts. The meteorologist will work some weekends and holidays.
Application Requirements:
WeatherWorks is seeking an Operational Meteorologist that embodies the beliefs and characteristics as described above. A passion for weather, and the ability to create and communicate a fluid, descriptive forecast is of most importance. A strong work ethic and desire to improve is also needed to succeed. Additional requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science
- Forecasting experience, with a sound knowledge of primary weather models and soundings (i.e. BUFKIT)
- Ability to decode METARs and interpret satellite and radar imagery
- Excellent oral, written and personal communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership and managerial skills are a plus
