The Environmental Data Science Innovation and Impact Lab (ESIIL) within CIRES at the University of Colorado Boulder welcomes applications for Postdoctoral Research Scholars who are working in the field of environmental data science (EDS) to address pressing environmental challenges.
The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado at Boulder has an immediate opening for a Research Associate supporting NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI). This hire will serve as the lead of the Space Magnetometer Team within NCEI’s Space Weather Team.
This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office (WFO), with vacancies in each listed location. WFOs issue watches, warnings and advisories as well as forecasts for their local area, keeping the public informed of weather hazards and interacting with emergency management partners to prepare for and mitigate the impacts of weather and water hazards. They monitor multiple sources of observations, disseminate weather, water and climate-related information.

This position is located in the River Forecast Center (RFC) with vacancies in each listed location. The RFCs keep watch over the nation's waterways to minimize loss of life and property damage from flooding and meet the water service needs of our nation. RFCs produce timely and accurate water forecasts and information to support the NWS customers and partners. RFCs produce flood forecasts, river and water information used for navigation, recreation, reservoir operations, and water supply plans.

Members of the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science in Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences won four 2025 Professional Keystone Media Awards from the Pennsylvania News Media Association. The winning entries submitted by three faculty members and one recent graduate won first place in two categories and second place in two categories. Winners will be honored at the Keystone Media Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Harrisburg.
