Campus Weather Service

The Campus Weather Service provides an array of services to the community, such as forecasts free of charge over various media.

PSUBAMS

The Pennsylvania State University Branch of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association

Storm Chase Team (PSU Chase)

Established in summer 2013 as a student organization to identify, increase awareness and report severe weather conditions.

Supportive network for Women in Meteorology (SWIM)

SWIM is a group of professors, grad students, researchers, and other members of the meteorology community here at Penn State dedicated to providing support, discussion, and outreach for women in meteorology. The WMO has found that only 23% of professionals in the meteorology/hydrology/atmospheric science fields globally are female, and that number is even lower (about 12%) in the United States. While many strategies have emerged to foster the participation of women in science, the common thread has always been the need for peer support, mentorship, and networking, which is what we hope to provide.

The Weather Risk Management Club

Are you interested in how weather affects a wide range of industries, including energy, agriculture, insurance, construction, retail, and transport?

PSU Weather Data Science Club

PSU Weather Data Science Club (newly established spring 2021) is aimed at helping students develop coding skills for their future careers, whether that is in the private industry, academia, or government. They may also have the opportunity to contribute towards upgrading/maintaining the PSU E-Wall, a website with numerical weather prediction output. This club aims to foster a mentor-mentee relationship in computer programming skills between students of varying abilities.
