Soon all colleges and universities will be in full swing, however, we don’t want you to miss out on the early bird rates and registration for activities at the NWA’s 40th Annual Meeting. Please see the detailed information below from Janice Bunting, the NWA Executive Director.

The discounted Early Bird rates for the Annual Meeting end Tuesday Sep. 15. You may register now to lock-in the Early Bird rates, then choose to pay at the meeting. Registration continues after Sep. 15, but at higher prices.
Meeting hotels are filling-up fast. If you haven’t reserved a room yet, do so very soon, or complete this survey to help us determine how many may be needed.

Dual-Pol Radar Course (Registration by this Friday, Sep. 4, by contacting Nicole Robertson.
The University of Oklahoma Office of Weather Programs and Projects is offering a training course in dual-polarization radar technology, using award-winning materials co-developed by The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies and the Warning Decision Training Branch. The 20-hour course consists of 12 hours of web-based distance learning and 8 hours of in-residence instruction using scenarios. Distance learning will begin soon, and an in-residence workshop will be held in conjunction with the NWA Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City this October. NWA members: save 10% on the $500 registration, and earn 5 CEU credits toward NWA Seal recertification!
NWA Scholarship Golf Outing (Saturday Oct. 17)
This year's NWA Scholarship Golf outing will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Earlywine Golf Course in Oklahoma City. The cost is $85 per player and includes lunch, range, cart, golf, and donation to the scholarship fund. Lunch will begin at 11:30 AM and Tee Times begin at 1:00 PM. Weather and Climate Change: Pieces of the Same Puzzle (Saturday Oct. 17)
Earn 1 CEU for attending this Saturday, Oct. 17 half-day weather and climate change workshop held at the Oklahoma City Cox Convention Center, site of the NWA meeting. Underwritten by a grant from the National Science Foundation to George Mason University, the program will offer workshop attendees up to $215 to cover the additional day’s related lodging and meal expenses. There is no course registration fee. Contact Bud Ward for more information.
Research Operations Nexus (RON) Meetup — Honoring the Legacy of Ronald W. Przybylinski
(Sunday Oct. 18, 5:30-7:30 pm at the Cox Convention Center)
Have you ever thought, “I have this really great idea to improve weather forecasting and decision support, but I need someone to help with its science, research and/or development,” or “I need to make sure it is meaningful and useful to operational forecasters?” You have? Then we have an opportunity for you! The NWA Meeting will provide an interactive Meetup between research and operational meteorologists. The groups will rotate through a number of “stations” in a speed-mentoring fashion and discuss a variety of ideas and themes that could benefit forecast and warning operations. Students – The Student Session, Speed Mentoring Event, Master Forecast Class, and DVD Swap all provide opportunities to network and build your skills and will occur on Sunday Oct. 18. See the NWA Meeting agenda for details, and the next NWA Newsletter will also contain more information.
